In the 20th century there were many artists that used the bull in their paintings. Such as Elaine de Koning, Francis Bacon, Eerstwhile Gorky, Damien Hirst’s elaborate cock and bull and of course Picasso who more than anyone loved the bull as his virile subject matter.The bull have become symbols of power, beauty, and bravery and can be seen in all aspects of advertising and art.

Cherry studied flamenco guitar while living in Spain where she met many aficionados of the corrida and learned to appreciate their cultural appreciation and love for los toros, se llama los toros! Her approach begins with the flourish of the lines created as she imagines the bull moving through the countryside. She draws her inspiration from her experiences instead of a photo which allows for more spontaneity in the line work and helps to create the movement of the bull. Color comes as she begins the painting, sometimes she has an idea of a pallet and other time she wonders through time remembering colors and things that left a memory on her mind. Often times she uses the colors of the bullring, the sand color and the reds of the barrera. There is often a sense of antiquity that arise from the pallet remembering the hues of the ancient caves.
