Joshua Tann is a fine art photographer. He believes that photography is the best medium for his artistic work because it gives him the most creative freedom. Most of his photographic images are influenced by his love of travel, art and architecture, something that was nurtured throughout his youth and adulthood. His childhood goal to be an architect was derailed by life circumstances, but his love and interest in architecture continued throughout his life. In 2011 photography became his medium to express this passion, despite his profession as a psychotherapist.
He received a certificate in Professional Photography from the New York Institute of Photography. He also received a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University (Malibu, California) as his formal education.
His creative process started every time he is drawn to a certain scene, event or object. Almost every image he took involved a building or a structure as the main object or background. This is consistent to his interest in architecture and how humanity interact with their environment, particularly the surrounding structures and buildings.
