Samuel Sowatey

I am a self-taught artist currently based in the town of LA,
specializing in contemporary portraiture. Following high school, I
embarked on a journey to merge expressionism and abstraction,
employing a unique technique of painting with broomsticks. My
preferred medium is oils, as they complement my style
seamlessly. My inspiration stems from celebrating black culture,
infusing elements of fashion and lifestyle into my artistic
narrative.
Beyond my artistic endeavors, I possess a robust foundation in
art history and theory. My academic pursuits have furnished me
with a nuanced comprehension of the historical and cultural
underpinnings that influence art. This knowledge empowers me to
engage in enriching dialogues and critically evaluate the works of
fellow artists, nurturing an environment conducive to creative
evolution.
My vision is to meld fashion and technology with vibrant hues in
my paintings, capturing the beauty and vulnerability inherent in
African culture. This fusion, which I term "fashiontech,"
represents Africa's contemporary fashion landscape.
Continuing on my artistic journey, I draw inspiration from fellow
artists and the esteemed professors Ablade Glover and Amoako
