I am a french painter whose realistic work revolves around portrait making.
What I am aiming at in this series of portraits is not a true-to-life representation of the model ; that can be achieved through photography. I am even less interested in reaching stroke perfection, which is illusive. I might well sound conceited but what I am involved in here is sensing of the soul of the subject. To that aim, I get rid of everything that is not the being and I make use of a narrow framing; no element of the setting, not even clothes should adulterate the picture.
