The Olympic Games in the old days. The jumper is mid-air, in motion making his way over the bar. Will he jump high enough? Standing in focus behind the jumper is the judge. Then and now, we wish for greatness. Sometimes we go for it. Sometimes we focus on the judge.

TRINE CHURCHILL is a Danish painter living in Los Angeles. Her paintings capture the fleeting moments of memory and childhood, blending the real and the dreamlike within settings of magical nature. Inspired by personal and found photos, she uses figurative imagery and landscapes to evoke a sense of wonder and nostalgia. “My goal is to invite viewers into scenes that feel both familiar and slightly surreal, encouraging them to connect with their own memories and experiences." "I draw inspiration from vintage family photos, and everyday snapshots of the world around me. My process is intuitive and unplanned, letting images evolve from the ordinary into something psychological and symbolic. I enjoy working in both oil and acrylic, blending loose, abstract brushwork with realistic detail to create a dynamic balance on the canvas.” TRINE CHURCHILL received her BFA from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angles and studied for a semester at l´Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. This introduced her to the French impressionist painters with frequent visits to museums like Musee d’Orsay and l’Orangerie. Earlier influence came from the surrealists such as Magritte and Dali, and the Norwegian expressionist Edvard Munch. SOLO EXHIBITIONS of her work include exhibitions with Matter Studio Gallery, Los Angeles, José Drudis-Biada Art Gallery, Mount Saint Mary’s University, Los Angeles, Castelli Art Space, Los Angeles, College of the Canyons, Santa Clarita, George Billis Gallery, Los Angeles, Nancy Margolis Gallery, New York, and Hübner & Hübner Galerie, Frankfurt. Her work has also been exhibited at the Torrance Art Museum and the Red Dot art fair in Miami.
