Austrian sculptor Sandra Brugger (*1986) lives and works in Pettneu am Arlberg and Nesselgarten in Tyrol. In 2013, she graduated as a sculptor from the Technical School for Art and Design in Elbigenalp (Tyrol). In the same year, she set up her own business as a freelance artist. Brugger has participated in 15 (inter)national symposia for sculpture. Her works have been exhibited nationally as well as in the United States, Germany and Italy, and can be found in private and public collections. In 2019, she was awarded first prize in the ART Award by the Professional Association of Visual Artists in Austria. Creative Process and Inspiration Sandra Brugger's creative process is a deeply meditative, transformative and personal journey. ‘During the creative process, I lose myself completely in my own world,’ she explains. She aspires to share this state with her collectors, inviting them to immerse themselves in her art and lose themselves in her works for a moment. As a versatile, intuitive artist, she focuses her energy and thoughts on creating works that evoke strength, joy and inner peace – she consciously chooses not to contribute to the negativity of the world and to focus on the light. Not out of repression, but out of conviction: what we nurture grows. She combines her training as a sculptor with many years of experience in the fields of mindset, personal development and spirituality. Drawing inspiration from nature, meditation and personal reflection, her work spans from abstract paintings to sculptural creations. Often, she builds her pieces layer by layer using her self-made wood paste, crafted from wood shavings and sawdust, alternated with acrylic paints, and combines these with wood, concrete or stone. This meticulous process can take months or even years. ‘I firmly believe that art can touch people on a deeper level – if they are willing to open themselves up to it. It is this connection that drives me: art that inspires, brings joy and transforms spaces into places of resonance,’ says Brugger. Brugger's works provide inspiration without being prescriptive. They invite viewers to interpret them for themselves – and perhaps to get a little closer to themselves in the process.
