Assumpció Mateu is a visual multidisciplinary artist and Doctor in fine arts.

Her main mean of expression is painting, with which she works large and small format artworks, but she works with installations, sculpture, visual poetry, photo-collage, and graphics work.

Her work incorporates mainly informalistic abstraction, A. Mateu uses the landscape as a metaphor for her emotions and for her more intimate experiences.
She works with water techniques and natural materials, always using her hands as her main tool.

A Mateu has worked all around the world, exhibiting her work from Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, and Ireland, to countries like Lebanon, Dubai, United States, and China among others.

From 1976 until now she has worked all around the world, exhibiting her work from Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, and Ireland, to countries like Lebanon, Dubai, United States and China among others.

She has been able to exhibit her work in great international fairs such as ARCO in Spain, Art Montreal in Canada, FIAC in France, Art Basel in Switzerland, Art Köln in Germany, Menas-art in Lebanon, even in Japan. Moreover, her work takes part in international collections, both public and private: Vasarely foundation (France), Julius Bauer Foundation (Switzerland), Würth Museum (Spain), Ulster Museum (Ireland), MACBA (Spain), Solidere Collection (Lebanon), Mr. and Mrs. New collection (USA) and the UNESCO collection, within others.
A. Mateu participated in the Triangle Workshop organized by Anthony Caro in New York and had the opportunity to take part in two editions of the Salon des Realités Nouvelles in the Grand Palais in Paris, and, twice in the Salon Comparaisons in Paris.
In her hometown, she has shown her work individually i
the Espai Volart of the Vilacasas foundation and in the
Würth Museum in La Rioja, between other well-known institutions.
