Kumi Sasaki

Artist, VOGUE dancer, and Chinese martial artist.

I create artworks inspired by unique perspectives on everyday life.

Initially focused on monochrome pen drawings, my artistic range expanded after holding a solo exhibition in Brooklyn, New York in 2024. Since then, I have explored colorful compositions and integrated new techniques such as AR and animation.

My work has been exhibited in galleries, department stores, and cafés across Japan, and has been featured in New York art magazines. I work primarily with acrylic paint and iPad-based digital tools.

With award-winning experience in VOGUE dance and Chinese martial arts both in Japan and abroad, I incorporate the sensibilities of physical movement into my art. My inspiration comes from my own body, personal experiences, and everyday surroundings.

In recent years, my work has also addressed social themes, including LGBTQ+ issues inspired by VOGUE culture and the ongoing recovery of my hometown in Tohoku.
