Martin Kratochwil

I´m living in Vienna, freelancing as an artist. When knee problems forced me to stay at home for some weeks, i started drawing. Since that moment, i never stopped. My knee-problems vanished, but i went on doing my art. Drawing became a big passion and an important part of my life.

At first i followed my new passion for myself. Presenting my works to friends I was surprised to recognize, people like my results.I felt confirmed to go on.
I started running a facebook project, For three years I posted one drawing every day. after finishing this diary I started a collaboration with artist Max Lorenz at the "wabi sabi pavillion", where we created our art together and had some exhibitions. There is a blog ( ), where our artwork is documented. Now i decided, to offer some works at Saatchi Art.

I earn my living as a musician and pianoteacher - and I follow my passion for drawing every day. If you like the results, let me know, every kind of feedback is welcome.

I´m a self-taught artist. My preferred materials are pencil and paper. A vivid line is the most important thing for me. When i draw, i start with an empty head. My brain is "closed" and I am open for intuition. I do the first lines and let my fingers "talk" to create my creatures.The ideas of zen and taoism are a big influence. I like the idea, not to evaluate during the process of creation. A free and open mind is the basic interest of my artwork
