Rosalie Roewert

I was born in Los Angeles, California, but mostly raised in Iowa. Now many years later, I live in Wisconsin. I have always thought of myself as a traditional painter, but not completely. I am eager to explore new ways of telling old stories, or new techniques for presenting old ideas. I am not at the end of my search yet -- as a matter of fact, I am really just getting started. Stay tuned for future developments.

I attended the University of Iowa (never graduated) and then as I traveled around the country, took classes at the Boston Museum School, the Corcoran School of Art, and the Northern Virginia Community College. At NOVA, I took some classes from John Bannon, who introduced me to the work of Maroger and his medium.

I have won no awards, exhibited nowhere, and sold only a few paintings. I have always considered myself in the learning stage and not really prepared to sell my work. Now, finally I am late to be starting my career, but better late than never. I hope to make new discoveries as I go along.
