Anna Bakowska

My art is a language of symbol and metaphors, far richer than literal description. I am carving in wood since 20 years, my bronze images I do since 6 years. My inspiration are human relationships, nature and idyllic landscapes of meditareanian countries. I combine diffrent techniques while working on my art. My wooden statues are made of soft linden wood and to make them I use simple chissels and electric saw. Bronze figures are done totally diffrently. The casting is made of beeswax blended with melted candles. This unique soft sculpture approach allows for intricate detail and expressive posture before form is immortalized in bronze. Each unique casting is then hand-polished, expertly painted with rich colors, and thoughtfully mounted on distinctive bases- from vibrant , custom-colored glass that mimimics the flow of water to forged metal and raw, natural stone. Ultimately the process of sculpting is for me , an act of intimate connection. It is simultaneously a relaxing escape, a form of active meditation, and a powerfull meeting with my own imagination.

Master degree in Marketing at Cracovian Academy of Mining and Metalurgy , course of guide in Kraków, workshops of woodcarving since 24 years.
