Nuno Gonsalves

Nuno Gonsalves, born in 1972 in Portugal, raised in France, lived 11 year in the UK, developed influences from these cultures. Now, back to Portugal living and working in the interior of Portugal since 2021.
From a very young age, he was fascinated by the world of art,
an influence that led him to visit museums and exhibitions of great names from the past and present, with his favourite venues being the London National Gallery, Tate Modern, White Cube Gallery, among others.
He is self-taught in the field of drawing and oil painting.
In 1998, he trained in the field of tile making, which sparked his interest in furthering his technical and historical knowledge. He went on to set up his own studio in Castelo Branco the following year. In 2006, he decided to pursue other directions, but never abandoned his art supplies, resuming his artistic activity full-time in 2024.


SYNOPSIS
In my painting, I invite meditation, I offer the freedom to ask ourselves questions to which we may even know the answer, but do not think about.
Questions such as what we are, what we are doing here, whether our actions are right or wrong.
In tile work, while I am fascinated by the classical style, I also offer a contemporary approach.
