Johan Bellman (1984), born, raised, and based in Sweden. Earlier in his life, Bellman studied art at VBU but he has primarily dedicated himself to the world of saddle-making where motif embossing has been a recurring element in nearly all of his productions. In the early stages of his career as a saddle maker, he was part of winning prestigious awards at one of Europe's largest motorcycle fairs and collaborated with famous and respected motorcycle builders both in Europe and the US. In addition to this, he has worked as a marketing manager, in music management and with suicide prevention. Over the recent years, leather has taken on a progressively less prominent role in his artistic pursuits. Instead, more classical materials and digital tools have stepped into the spotlight. Nowadays, he works almost exclusively with flashé, oil, and digital art. Bellman's highly personal style is an explosive fusion of color and life that embraces you with richness and modernity, taking you on an expanding journey. Through his art, he consistently mirrors something personally experienced, a reaction to the outside world or even both. Employing a blend of classical materials and modern digital tools and techniques, he conjures semi-surreal motifs with the intention of constructing a mental gateway between himself and the audience. This aims to shape, provoke thoughts, and stimulate discussions.
