Christopher Schmitt

Based in the French Alps, I am Christopher Schmitt, a contemporary visual artist whose work explores the invisible forces of nature through a dynamic fusion of painting, sculpture, and photography.

My artistic journey began over ten years ago, inspired by a deep connection with the natural world, which led me to capture the invisible energies that shape the Alpine landscapes. These forces, often intangible but omnipresent, continue to fuel my creative process today.

I aim to transcend the conventional boundaries between art and craftsmanship. Trained in cabinetry, I gained a deep understanding of materials, shapes, and structures, which enabled me to create my own supports and frames, combining artistic expression with technical precision. This expertise is fundamental to my approach, ensuring that each piece is a true fusion of creativity and craftsmanship.

Drawing from my love of nature, I immerse myself every year in the wilderness of the Alps, capturing its raw beauty through my photography. These images then nourish my painting, where I explore themes of stillness, movement, and the cyclical rhythms of nature.
