Miray is an Egyptian visual artist raised by the sea in Hurghada. Born in Cairo in 2000, she holds a BA in Mass Communication, majoring in Public Relations and Advertising with a minor in Graphic Design. Her artistic journey began at a young age and flourished throughout her school years. After a brief pause in her teenage years, she rediscovered her passion through graphic design studies, which led her to explore more mediums. This exploration evolved beyond a hobby, shaping her artistic practice and deepening her engagement with the art world. Her practice centers on collage and mixed media for their boundless opportunities for deconstruction and reconstruction, inspired by the spirit of rebellion, chaos, and freedom. Rooted in contemporary art, her work is shaped by the questions, reflections, and challenges that consume her, as well as her ongoing exploration of her own identity. She uses art as an ultimate no-restrictions personal outlet and a means to create connection and dialogue with others and humanity. For her, art is a private —perhaps shared— intimate sanctuary, and a pathway out of the so-called reality—a tool that reshapes the world through our own eyes.
