Born 22.01.1950 in Lancing, West Sussex. Worked in commerce as a graphic designer for 25 years, then became a self employed interior designer before embarking on painting images.Began painting in 2006. My early work was mainly based on negative space with natural subjects. Inspired by Turner and the "Impressionists" use of colour. I am now drawn to images of natural patterns and shape to represent them in unexpected ways. In 2013 I embarked on portraits, beginning with a self portrait. I then proceeded to capture the family and friends, mainly from photographs as it’s difficult to ask people to sit for several sessions to get a good likeness. I’ve since been inspired and submitted work, to Grayson Perry, with his Artclub series featured on Chanel 4 during the lockdown and had a mention on the second series earlier this year. I’ll continue to attempt to portray the character of the subjects and develop new styles of approach.
