I am pursuing fresco painting because it readily accepts and holds other materials such as metal, wood, plastic and fabric that are part of the art vocabulary I have used to find and create meaning and discover metaphors in my work. Metaphors that represent the belief in a universe that is made of out of nothing like those of Baruch Spinoza, Buddhism, Lord Kelvin and others that are reflected in the Theory of Quantum Mechanics.
Although I haven't done much painting since attending the University of Minnesota for the last 30 years I have been a sculptor creating freestanding and kinetic stainless steel sculptures as large as 28' high by 40' wide and 33.5' deep. These new relief paintings contain all I have learned about materials and beliefs.
