An ex charity fundraiser and teacher, I have always loved photography. However, the possibilities of Digital Technology never ceases to amaze me as it gives us the ability not just to represent the world as it is - but to create diverse worlds which are often wacky, weird and sometimes simply surreal.
Among my sources of inspiration I would have to cite the artist Georges de la Tour whose use of symbolism and light struck me most strongly when visiting the Louvre in my twenties.
Quality Street chocolates would also feature for I loved those bright cellaphane wrappers which - as a child - I could then collage into 'stained glass windows'. The colours purple and orange still feature strongly in my art.
Thirdly,I would have to recognize the Monty Python team, and the film The Meaning of Life. Special thanks to the fish who in a way live on in my art, both observing and participating in events whilst they go about their daily business and ponder......the meaning of it all....
My qualifications are many and varied including Grade 5 piano, 'O' level Latin, a Degree in Language and Linguistics and a Masters Degree in Business Administration. None, however, have to do with art.
February 2015 - Altered Perspectives, Tresana, Italy. Abstract macro and still life photography.
