Misako OBA’s artworks have been collected internationally. Her artworks include award-winning pieces are held in private, corporate, and national permanent collections in museums in Europe such as France, the United States, Japan, and other countries. She exhibited at galleries and art fairs in France, Belgium, Germany, Japan, and throughout the United States such as New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and Seattle.

Her body of work explores human life as a journey and it examines our soul and emotions. Her work also depicts its transient nature and perspective. Light/hope in the darkness, using a personal and universal experience beyond time and space. Her mixed-media painting often incorporates text in compositions relevant to each series’ concept. She layers and integrates timeless ancient messages/materials AND contemporary material from our time such as computer languages (codes) in an abstract manner.

There are mainly two types of mixed media of her work; (1) Encaustic and oil based, which includes watercolor along with other materials (2) Acrylic based mixed media.

She was born and raised in Japan. Her Bachelor of Arts is from Japanese university, and she also studied in a graduate program in the university in the United States. In New York and Paris, Oba studied Photography and Fine art, Mixed Media, and Printmaking.

Oba initially launched her art career specializing in photography, including traditional gelatin silver prints and toning. Her fine art photographs are in a national permanent collection in France. And her professional repertoire has since evolved from solely photography to mixed-media painting, which incorporates encaustic, oil, text, printmaking, Japanese paper, and occasionally her own photographic imagery in compositions relevant to each series’ concept. She uses both traditional and modern techniques and layers them in the same piece.
