Ninni Heldt

Trained as an artist in my home country and Italy, I use the same method studied by the painters of the late 19th century.
The main goal in this classical method is to express the effect of light on the object. While painting the live model I focus on exploring the light, shadows and halftones. Observing the natural light is interesting and at its best a meditative process which gives me a strong sense of the present moment. Working alone from the live model gives also psychologically interesting atmosphere for painting process.
I think that best art is born from a balanced union of craftsmanship and creativity. In my paintings I wish to combine realistic painting tradition to its modern expression so that eventually something new will come out of it.
