Susan Vecsey is a painter based in NYC and East Hampton, NY.

The East Hampton Star, May 1, 2008.In my recent paintings I am interested in creating imaginary landscapes that are soft, peaceful and still. I work in oils and dilute heavily to create atmospheric, moody images that allow that texture of the linen to show through. I am inspired by the shape of the local landscape in eastern Long Island, by landscapes in the Midwest US and East Central Europe, in particular Hungary. I work from memory rather than photographs to create these imaginary landscapes.Susan is a graduate of Barnard College, where she first began studying art history, photography, painting and collage. She continued to study art history, painting, sculpture, mono-print printmaking and photography at MOMA, The New York Studio School, The New School, and International Center of Photography. Susan is represented by Spanierman Modern in New York City.
