Tim Roper was born and bred in the beautiful South Shropshire hills. His workshop overlooks the sleepy town of Ludlow from a thousand feet up on the side of the Brown Clee, the highest hill in Shropshire. Tim has always had a keen interest in the plants and animals which share this rural idyll.
His work shows this love of nature, having, over the years, sculpted many plant and animals. He works in steel and stainless steel and uses both modern and traditional metalworking techniques to produce his sculpture. His work varies in size from life size giraffe to small hummingbirds.
Notable public art commissions include:
RAC Gauntlet at Bovington. (Royal Armoured Corps) 2.5m tall stainless steel Gauntlet.
