Kathleen Migliore-Newton

Living in New York City, I am attracted to the faces and movement of its occupants as I walk the streets of this vibrant urban environment. My paintings and drawings are peopled with characters whose lives I try to imagine. I use photographs that I take of people on the street, in the subway, and in museums as source material.New Yorkers' acceptance of diversity is born of necessity. The subway is our public square makes us more at ease with people from all over the world.. My favorite artists are Degas, Manet, Kitaj, Peter Doig, David Hockney, among others.

I received a BFA in Painting and Printmaking from Pratt Institute. I studied with Richard Lindner, Gabriel Laderman, Stephan Green and Al Blaustein.
