British artist Christabel Blackburn trained in figurative drawing, painting and scultping at The London Atelier of Representational Art. She has been drawing and painting portraits for or over 10 years and her broader work increasingly focuses on the relationship between people and their environment. With photographic stillness, her
paintings explore city life, from a street scene or building bathed in sunlight, to a lone figure in a gallery. The work deals with the contemporary ‘screen culture;’ the ease with which an image is instantaneously enhanced and shared, visually manipulating the world around us. Light plays a vital role in these paintings and it is this timeless quality which Christabel projects in her most recent architectural work.
