Christian Ovís Artworks

Christian Ovís is a Dutch artist that specializes in hard edge abstract painting.

‘I am fascinated by colors and what they represent. With my paintings I intend to capture experiences and emotions into colorfull geometric fields. Colors represent emotions, although te interpretation differs among viewers. For instance, I associate red with danger , strenght and desire. Green on the other hand, stands for wealth, luck and intellect.

I use high quality acrylic paint on canvases primed with gesso. A thin layer of varnish is applied in order to protect it from UV-light and damaging. All paintings are authentic.

In order to guarantee the authenticity, all my paintings are characterized by my unique wax seal on the front of the painting. Furthermore, all paintings are named, signed and dated on the back. My artworks are ready to hang and delivered along with a certificate of authenticity’.

Christian Ovís argues that an artists own interpretation of art constitutes its artwork. Although attending courses, he is primarily self-taught. Artists like Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman and Kazimir Malevich inspired him to experiment with color(fields) and hard edge painting.
