Gary Smith

After 20 successful years as a creative in design and advertising the UK, Gary Smith arrived in New Zealand in 2006 and discovered something he had always craved: space, to both live and work in. Having spent years making imaginary things in his head on the train to work he finally began making them for real and held his first solo exhibition late in 2009 and followed with shows in successive years since with sculpture and more recently, furniture and painting.
"˜The objects I choose to make and the primary colours I often use, serve to evoke pleasant memories of more simple times in our life's. When things aren't so convoluted, things are more enjoyable.'
