I recently graduated from a fine art degree at uwe, specialising in sculpture.
I use found objects which often have an institutional, functional resonance such as breeze block or oil. The combinations of such elements with the notion of the body imply an understated sense of discomfort and unease. I am interested in elementary situations which exploit forces and an expose an element of risk. In my practice I want to explore an active viewer relationship with the work, whether it is by encountering a suspended series of blocks, a lamp submerged in oil, an accidental spillage or a precarious pile of rocks. My choice of materials both expose and require a force acting upon them in order to ignite an engagement with the viewer, whether that be through balance, suspension or surface tension.
Inspirations: Richard Wilson,Bas Jan Ader, Anselmo.
