The pursuit of the ephemeral pleasures, the glimpses of joy, sadness, and true emotions, beyond the mere appearance of things, take a special emphasis on Madalena Aires artwork. The aim is to explore the irony of the apparent invisibility of the observed elements, intimately connected with the everyday life.
“In the frenzied, disconnected daily universe, at times dehumanized, my work expression serves only as a recall of the value of being in the present and in the now, more connected with all of us and our own emotions.”
“I want to capture the abstract and imaterial image, yet the honest feeling of the quality of the substances and the surfaces.”
There is a sort of realistic approach given to the subject. But not as a pure imitation, nor artificial and meaningless image, it purposely captures the attention like a physical magnet that pulls you in, as a trick of mind, in the end as a gentle opening window to a poetic vision. Madalena´s work tends to evolve for a more spontaneous and reflexive approach, that we can confirm more recently, which is more compatible with the essence of her creation.
