Matthew Atabet

My work involves algorithmic mark making and chance. Employing computer code and mathematics, I define the template for each series of images. Chance recombination produces variations of these themes -- the autonomy of each work is central to my process.

However, I deconstruct common notions of computer generated images. Rather than glossy realism, I prefer the incomplete, the incorrect, and the disorienting. Thus, my work is both conceptual and expressionist.
