The paint, the canvas, the light and chaos in the studio... Such has been my life for years. Abstract painting lets me be free, open, and honest. Over time, I have come to aspire towardsmore and more restrictive means of expression, seeking liberation from accumulation andoverabundance. My recent large-format paintings are evident of this inclination towards ratherradical forms of reductionism, where I operate with categories such as emptiness andnothingness; the perceptivity of that, which is missing.
I aim to create forms that stand entirely for their essence and their essence only. By simply observing, the viewer is invited to experience them purely, freed from the need to make sense of or decode any hidden meanings. My method is a careful subtraction. It’s an exercise in asceticism that has led me to use simple geometric shapes and neutral or clean colors. Each piece is the result of a thought-through, predefined process, much like the batch productions of industrial conveyors. Practiced in silence, this mode of operation invites an immediate sensory response: one that requires stillness, sharpness of perception, almost a meditative state of mind.

Born in 1959. Studied under Proffesor Alexander Terziev at the University of Veliko Tarnovo. Graduated with a BA in Painting in 1984. Member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists since 1991.
