Arti Shashi

Art gives me a medium to express my observations , about the world we live in. It gives me a power of creating a world of visuals that speak my feelings, perfection has to meet my demands and not the imagined demands of the viewer. This knowledge has liberated the craving that I always had, to draw, paint sketch and create.
Women of my childhood aspired…but only that what was allowed. She had a self image that could be neatly folded and stacked up in case it didn’t get the space to be expressed. Nobody was expected to make place for her, she was uncomplaining, gentle and mild.As a child would , I loved these women, admired them, was dependant on them. I saw them everywhere, in families, society, streets, cinemas and stories. They were the norm. They make up a large part of my observations in my artworks. I wish to associate in my art the warmth I got from them. The latent energy I perceived in them. The subdued fire.
Nature has a hold on every human. It’s beauty and its perfection breathtaking. A curl of a leaf, the soft merging of colours so beautifully, the graceful balance, the lyrical lines, they speak of divinity. Each of us see these, and are moved whenever we do.
