Thomas Birch

I'm a 48 years old Painter turned Digital during the past few years. And a wannabe electronic musician with in-house Sound Studio.
I was born and grew up in Horsens and currently live in Aarhus, Denmark.
My inspirational origins i found mainly at regular journeys to the European Capitals and New York where museums and every gallery in town were visited. These days i search inspiration on the internet. It suits me well obviously because there's so much material an especially due to my way of work that is based on new digital media.
Digital art was my thing in the University and my subject at Aarhus Art School where i taught for some years.
I've been a Teacher and head of Department of Digital Arts at that School in Denmark. Later i was a freelance Art reporter at the Danish National Radio for the program Harddisken. And at at a few occasions an Art Writer at the Newspaper Weekendavisen.

I studied Art History and Cognitive Semiotics at Aarhus University Aesthetics and Semiotics Institutes. I got a Master Degree.
Early on studiying I caght interest in the use of digital media as a target and basis for new artforms and Architecture. Net Art, Telepresence, Bio Art and Blobitecture to mention a few. And I pursued that line throughout the Education untill I reached an MA.
As a freelance reporter i had the privilige to do Interviews with great Artists within my field of interest, such as Alexei Shulgin, Mark Napier, Eduardo Kac and Lars Spuibroek.

As a Sculpter i was part of a Group Exhibition at Husets Gallery in Aalborg, Denmark where i showed an Installation named "Corners".
