Tony Oakey

Tony is an Irish artist, born in 1959. He lives just outside the small village of Piltown in South Kilkenny in the south-east of Ireland. Tony started painting in 1992 and is self taught. In 2000 he seized the opportunity to become a full-time artist and continues to develop his work into a recognizable "style" of his own. His paintings are collected worldwide.



ARTISTS STATEMENT

"My inspiration is literally Universal.
There are no rules,reasons or explanations.
I treat each day as a new canvas with new thoughts and dreams to influence me while my surroundings and mood sub-consciously contribute to the work in progress.
For me painting is a mental voyage full of colour and surprise. Each brush stroke lets me enter a little further into a new world, a less serious place where there are no boundaries between imagination and reality."

This collection of recent paintings explores the beauty, colours and textures of Nature. Not specifically from any one thing but from Nature as a whole. The main objective being to paint the “feeling” of nature without any rules reasons or explanations.
