Alessandro Mandruzzato was born in 1970 and he belongs to the 4th generation of Master Glassmakers in Murano. He left school at the age of 15 to focus on the extraordinary art of Murano Glassmaking. Due to his family’s respect for Glassmaking traditions, his constant contact with Glass developed into what was to become his Passion as time went by, modifying and blending ancient and modern techniques so as to give “life” to this fragile material - Glass. In 2000, Alessandro continued running the family business by becoming the company owner and while remaining faithful to tradition, he is constantly in search of new technologies and developing new machinery at the same time. He undertook a personal study project which led him to master new grinding and engraving techniques, using grindstones, diamond compound grinding wheels, cork and polishing wheels which enable him to transform a block of Glass into an object that possesses an eternal aura. Each of his works can be considered as autobiographical as they are inspired by sensations and moments of his personal life. Alessandro Mandruzzato has exhibited his works in both Art Galleries and Museums in Venice, Milan, Rome, Paris, London, Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Dubai, Las Vegas, San Diego and Beijing. In 2010, he created the work entitled “Anghelos “, the largest glass angel in the world, measuring 700cm x 400 cm high, 1280kg. In 2011, his sculpture named “Diva“ displayed inside the halls of the great Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg in Russia; a source of infinite pride since he was the first Italian of the new Millennium to display his work in the prestigious Museum as well as another of his pieces of work entitled “Embrace “ was created for the Ancient Library of Alexandria in Egypt, as the Italian representative at an International Glass Art Symposium. In 2012, he received the “Tricolour Globe” award as a representative of Italian Excellence worldwide, sponsored by the Council of Ministers. Today, he still collaborates with world-renowned artists and designers. In 2012, Alessandro Mandruzzato became an internationally-famous registered trademark in order to protect his creations. In 2015, his work entitled “Arbol del Viento” was displayed at the Murano Glass Museum. In 2019 he is invested with the title of " Cavaliere di San Marco " for culture .
