Contact us.Lito Barreiro (Cangas, 1977) is a Spanish architect and sculptor whose work stems from a direct relationship with material and space, expressed through a geometric language.
He works with geometric forms, placing particular emphasis on proportions, balance, and the interplay between various parts.
Geometry serves as a starting point rather than a rigid rule; it transforms and shifts, taking on a more intuitive and physical dimension. His sculptural work thus explores the tension between the constructed and the absent, mass and lightness, form and void.
In this process, the material is not merely a means of creating a form but an essential part of it. The material retains the traces, irregularities, and imperfections inherent to its nature, and it is within this dialogue between control and the unexpected that his pieces find their character.
Space also plays a fundamental role in his work; his sculptures are not understood merely as isolated objects but in relation to the site they occupy.
Distance, mass, void, and light alter the perception of each piece, causing the experience of the work to shift as the viewer moves.
Edges, planes, facades, and perspectives emerge, alluding to the work as a constructed entity. His practice thus occupies a shared territory between sculpture, geometry, and architecture.
