I'm Kyoko Abe, born in Fukuoka, Japan. I have always loved Thai things, so I moved there in 1996 where I got married and live with my husband, 2 lovely daughters, my dog Tanchan, more than 40 rabbits and 1 green iguana.
Some afternoons I give kids art classes and I'm always busy with another painting.

After graduating from Fukuoka Designers School in 1987 I started working as an independent illustrator, working in general advertising and illustrated some story books as well as creating display designs.

I had my first Solo Exhibition called “Spring Surprises” in 1998 at Akko Gallery in Bangkok. This was followed by the illustration of a story book based on the story of Kenji Miyazawa and another Solo Exhibition in coorporation with The Japan Association and Daido Life Insurance.

This was follwed by 3 Solo Exhibitions “Being Myself”in 2001, “Can't Stop Painting” in 2004 and “The Country That I Love” in 2007. All held at Akko Gallery in Bangkok Thailand, the latter “The Country That I Love” was also a Solo Exhibition at The Japan Association in the same year.

2007 brought a Poster design job comissioned by the Japanese Embassy for – The 120thAnniversery of Japan – Thailand Diplomatic Relations.

In 2009 I had an exhibition called “The Place Where I am” at the Oishi Gallery in Fukuoka where I was born. It was held in coorporation with Thai Airways, the Tourist Authority of Thailand and Avanti the Fukuoka information magazine.

While in 2011 I worked on the “Bangkok – Fukuoka – 20years of Friendship” painting commisioned for poster use and the original being presented to the Mayor of Bangkok.
2012 meant another solo exhibition called “Let's go far, far away!” at Akko gallery. One more Solo Exhibition “Living in Thailand”...
