Massimo Battista

I graduated from the faculty of Art, Music and Show Disciplines (D.A.M.S) in Trieste, Italy focusing in dramaturgy with a thesis on J.M. Barrie's theatrical works.
A passion for theater and the visual aspects of the art inspired further studies in the Advanced Training Course in Stage Photography, supervised by Silvia Lelli and Roberto Massotti, the official photographers of the Teatro alla Scala opera house in Milan from 1979 to 1996.
During this time I developed many skills and areas of knowledge relating to theatre photography, from the history of dance and the current state of Italian theater to many facets of photography from it's historic background to image processing, post-production, darkroom and printing techniques. I have also taken a keen interest in the management and preservation of photographic archives for theaters.
Highlights of my career include photographic work with Rossetti Theater in Trieste in the mise-en- scene of stage shows featuring Anna Maria Castelli, Luciano Pasini and Antonio Calenda.
