Özgür Ülker

I’m a photographer and visual storyteller based in Istanbul. Since 1999, photography has been my way of seeing and understanding the world. While I’ve worked in commercial photography since 2002, my personal work grows slowly—shaped by time, intuition, and reflection.

I often focus on the performing arts, drawn to the fleeting nature of music and dance. My perspective is influenced by Eastern and Western philosophy, and inspired by poetry and sound. I see photography as a way of creating meaning—where light, shadow, movement, and stillness come together like visual poetry.

Lately, my work explores themes of time, memory, and witnessing—as well as the quiet mystery of movement and energy. In my ongoing Bosphorus series, I capture the silent harmony between light and water, looking for the stillness beneath the surface.
