Artist Profile – Reanne Code

I am a mother, a teacher, a partner, and an artist. My days are filled with the demands of nurturing, guiding, mediating, and supporting—not just in my classroom, but in my home, where the needs of my family often stretch me in ways that words cannot fully capture. When life becomes overwhelming, when I feel like I’m absorbing everything around me with no release, I turn to art.

Art is my way of making sense of the weight I carry, of giving form to the emotions that don’t always have a name. It is where I process the exhaustion, the love, the patience, and the moments of quiet struggle that come with managing the diverse needs of my two children. It is both an escape and a confrontation—a space where I can be honest about the challenges, the intensity, and the beauty of this life.

Through texture, color, and form, my work reflects the complexity of what it means to hold so much for others while trying to keep something for myself. It is raw, emotional, and deeply personal, but I hope that in sharing it, others—especially women who find themselves in similar spaces—see something of their own experience, too.
