Mircha Ivens

My art is concerned with that very power of subjectivity and its influence on the spaces, objects or environments that we or others inhabit in these paintings. This observation leads to the peculiar and uneasy manifestations of the familiar to become an estranged and ominous presence that overflows into the everyday.

The peculiar and the abject that originate in the mind finds its home in the most banal settings. For me, the very style or technique of a painting can become subjects. Creating this way a link with my interest in art history. I believe that technique can become a humorous device in the structure of an image. I consider my paintings to be intervals that reveal the unseen and the unspeakable.
