Jessica Simanowski

Jessie is a self taught artist and was born in Germany in 1976. In 1996 she moved to Portugal and in 2015 back to Germany.
Jessies Artwork could best be described as colorful and playful. At first glance childlike and simple, almost naive, yet very complex and with a deep meaning. The many layers of acrylicpaint and oilpastels, as well as the many details in her work, build a contrast to the simple and almost innocent figures she is using. The intense eyes of these figures pull the observer right into the painting and into a world of whimsical magic. Jessie loves to melt contrasts together until they add up to zero such as sweet, yet shocking. Complex, yet simple. Smooth, yet porous. Soothing,yet dramatic.
