I have practised art on the sidelines for 50 years and am now finally able to really invest some serious time in what I truly love to do.
Following a 35 year career in engineering and in the United Nations, I have pivoted to start my next dual career as a futurist – someone who studies and advises on the future, and an artist. In practical terms this entails research and non-fiction writing, the creation of future-themed artwork and strategic foresight consultancy.

I note the oncoming AI tsunami on digital art and its broader implications for painting, graphics and printing. As such I believe that the 5-30 year future of top end human made fine art now lies mainly in multi-material complex 2D and 3D sculptures.

For better or worse, my mainstream education in engineering and project management influences the way in which I approach my art. I imagine, plan, train, design, resource, test, prototype, build, refine, complete and install. My background also helps me to weave a technological narrative into my artwork. My plans are now long term, increasingly ambitious and technically intensive.

I am largely self -trained in the artistic-creative sense, whilst I have trained extensively via short courses (mainly in the UK) in many technical crafts, such as enamelling, silversmithing, blacksmithing, metal machining, woodwork, resins and sculptural molding and casting.
