BIOGRAPHY

Christophe Carton was born in Lille on August 1, 1965. He lives and works in Lille.

During my childhood, I discovered painting by visiting museums, reading and painting present at my grandparents art lovers. A visit in the footsteps of Claude Monet in Giverny influenced me in the choice of themes and in particular that of the landscape.
But in 1985 a meeting with Andy Goldsworthy at Vassivière shows me another look at the art of landscape. More than a painting subject, the landscape becomes an immersion, a sensory environment;
1985-1990: artistic studies at the Fine Arts of ESAC Cambrai and Esam Caen / Cherbourg. Five years of discovery under the influence of some artists like Roger Frezin, Adolphe Costenoble, and especially Raymond Depardon.
1991 2002 I work for various graphic communication companies as Artistic Director while continuing his personal work as a visual artist.

2003-2010 I teach drawing and graphic arts at ESDM Roubaix school (Cepreco group).

2010 I pass the CAPES of plastic arts and starts parallel of my work of plastician a career in the professorship of plastic arts.

From 2014, I explore landscape painting again with a very particular look. and focusing on the non-visible;

1998/2018 Group and individual exhibitions in cultural centers, hotels or open workshops. Collaboration and sharing of premises with an artists' association.
Participations at the open doors of artists' studios. and various local exhibitions.
