James is a multidisciplined artist who has been drawing and painting since childhood, encouraged by his family's support.
He attended Art College in Bristol, specializing in portraiture and the figure before moving to outdoor painting, which he continues today.
James' works have been recognized by the Royal Academy's summer exhibition, and he was a main contestant on Sky's Landscape Artist of the Year in 2020 and again this year, due to be aired in 2024.
His paintings have sold in major galleries, and he has had solo exhibitions at Cockington Court.
James began his Artist in Residency at Cockington Court in 2021, where he was able to develop his craft and gain valuable insights working in a gallery environment. His work celebrates the natural world and the wonder in its smallest details.
“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead”
Filton Art College, Bristol.
