Lila Rose Kole is a professional full time working artist, producing paintings in the style of the New American Tonalists, a contemporary interpretation of 19th Century artists who expressed the poetry of nature in their works: emoting an essence rather than a likeness. Most recently she was co-owner of the gallery, “The Vault” at 78th Street Studios (Cleveland, Ohio). Her hours are now consumed by creating commissioned artworks for corporate and private collections, directing Robert Hartshorn Studios & Gallery in Tremont (Cleveland, Ohio), and teaching others to find their own painting voices. Lila studied painting and literature at Marlboro College in Southern Vermont. She moved to Cleveland to continue her apprenticeship with Rob Hartshorn three years ago. In a short time her prodigious efforts have produced an important body of work that can be found throughout the Cleveland area: Fahrenheit Restaurant in Tremont, Saks Fifth Avenue in Beachwood, Aloft Hotel in Downtown Cleveland, the offices of Prosper for Purpose, MOD: Matter of Design in Hudson, and Robert Hartshorn Gallery.
