Sean Mcguire

Sean McGuire was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1991, but by 1992 was over it and moved to the great country of Texas. Sean grew up right outside of Dallas where he was eventually able to attend weekly screenings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which would be a major influence on him, creating a need to bring theatrics into his work.
He is currently finishing up his BFA in Painting with a minor in film and television at The Savannah College of Art and Design. His current body of work deals with the use of LED lighting combined with paintings whose subject matter stems back from late-night television of the late 90's and early 2000's.
Sean has an extensive lighting background and brings this into his paintings. Bringing in his own color changing LED lights instead of using traditional gallery lights he is able to control exactly how the paintings will be lit. The LED lights also allow for color changing effects that affect the viewers' perception of the paintings and give the illusion of movement. He plans on continuing with this work and work on larger scale light installations.
