Whenever I go out, I always carry paper, pencils, and markers in my backpack (and recently an iPad) so that I can draw whenever I want to, and when I come across a scene that catches my eye, I stop and draw while standing there.
When I want to draw a strong, clear line, I first draw the outline with a marker pen, then shades it with a pencil.
I continued my spontaneous project "Everyday I draw Barcelona" for about four years, drawing scenes from various street corners in Barcelona on the spot every day. I am attracted to everyday scenes that are away from the hustle and bustle of tourist spots and where I can feel the breath of the local people.
When I draw outdoors, immersing myself in the location for a while, the atmosphere of that place and time is captured in the drawing, and I believe that the spatial composition drawn from my own unique perspective can be expressed in a different way to a photograph. My artwork has been commercialized into posters, T-shirts, tote bags, and more, and is available for sale in stores in Barcelona and online.
