Peter De Wit

Born 25th November 1939 in London.
I am a toymaker, saxophone player and caf owner.

I make painted wooden decorative objects. the best description which seem to fit them is toys. I do not know why I make them. My inspiration is fairy tales and half forgotten memories from childhood, Hugo Pratt and Corto Maltese, Herge and Tin Tin.

I studied the saxophone at the Royal Brussels Conservetoire of Music.
In 1976 I was awarded the title of Toymaker of the Year by the British Toymakers Guild. I have exhibited at Chelsea Crafts fair, and have had a stall at Camden Lock and the Apple Market in Covent Garden. My work has been featured in two television programmes. My customers have included Rudolf Nureyev, Omar Shariff, Audrey Hepburn and members of royal families.,
