Linnea Leeming

A work of art is not merely a product, but a reflection of the human experience, offering a visual exploration of life’s challenges. Art transforms the ordinary, imbuing it with a sense of wonder. To truly appreciate it, one must engage with it thoughtfully—only by looking more deeply can one gain a fuller understanding. Abstract artists in particular, are driven to interpret what they see and feel into a cohesive and emotive painting.

Linnea Toney Leeming is an artist based in Rhode Island whose paintings have been featured in many solo and group exhibitions nationally. The central themes inherent in her abstract works are experimentation, innovation, and evolution. During the Covid pandemic starting in 2020, she started to increase the amount of ‘history’, or texture she wanted visible on her work. It seemed necessary as the threat of disease and violence increased throughout the first year. Since then she has enjoyed both the process and the presence of how the paintings are built up. Listening to her unconscious, Linnea makes calculated decisions that are fueled by issues of color and space, line and pattern, form and texture which all overlap and merge into unified compositions.
