I mainly draw in the style of hyperrealism which for the most part determined my choice of materials and techniques: my works are made in pencil or with colored pastels. Black and white graphics and soft pastels on velvet paper let me work with details on a very deep level, convey nuance of meanings through tilt of lines and plains, complex play of light and shade on a canvas.
The pencil allows me to achieve photographic, hyperrealistic accuracy in depicting objects. It makes it possible to picture reality beyond itself, articulate feelings there are no words for, go beyond the time and space. This way shifts of dimensions and focuses can be made very subtle, hardly meeting the eye. Notions, feelings, composition are where it the drawing really starts. The plot of the picture is a very complicated puzzle: objects, textures, light sources, states of nature – all this pieces do not readily cooperate with each other. After some time, however, they gradually form into fascinating rhythm for me, into clear structure which existence in reality cannot be doubted.
